Cyble Research Intelligence Labs (CRIL) has reported on a new ransomware group named "BlackMagic" ransomware and suspected to originate from Iran.
Its targets are Israeli companies, mainly in the transportation & logistics industry.
After encrypting, it appends the ".BlackMagic" extension to the encrypted files. Although it is a ransomware group, Cyble has concluded from analysis of the "ransom note", perhaps for these particular victims, that the attackers doesn't intend on requesting money from the victims and rather directly sell the exfiltrated data.
The threat actor used multiple cybercrime forums to sell data obtained during attacks and claimed to have 50Gb from transportation companies.
